Assuring the provenance of fine wine

Retailers

Overview

As a retailer you want your customers to enjoy the best experience each time they open one of the fine products you have selected for them. You devote great care and effort to the selection of wines and spirits and want to ensure they are transported and stored in the best conditions. Consumers are more and more knowledgeable about their purchases and you need to keep up with their demands for traceability and authentication.  Imagine a system enabling you to trace every single bottle from the moment it enters your warehouse to the moment it arrives at your shop. At any moment, you can verify where every bottle is located and, equally important, the temperature conditions under which it has traveled.

When you sell your bottle of Premier Cru in Asia after weeks of transport in a container, you are assured the temperature stayed in a reasonable range. And, you will be able to share this assurance with the final customer. In the shop, with the bottle in hand, your customer will have access to a summary report on the transport conditions of the wine, as well as information about the vintage, harvest, blending and other details you or the producer will have chosen to share.

In the company of family or friends, simply entering the bottle code number into his iPhone the customer will happily retrieve the fabulous pedigree of the bottle they are about to drink, adding a whole new dimension to their tasting experience. All this, thanks to your concern for impeccable provenance.

How do we do this?

The eProvenance system uses several advanced technologies, including RFID (Radio Frequency Identification), covert ink codes and multiple points of measurement coordinated by a high-speed password-protected, Internet database.

  • ELECTRONIC TEMPERATURE MONITORING:

ELECTRONIC TEMPERATURE MONITORING: In the eProvenance system, a temperature-monitoring Case Sensor is attached to each case of wine. The eProvenance Case Sensor is an active RFID Sensor with the capacity to measure the temperature three times a day and store the information in memory for future review and interpretation.

  • TRACEABILITY OF EACH BOTTLE:

TRACEABILITY OF EACH BOTTLE:Each bottle in the eProvenance system has a passive RFID Tag, which uniquely identifies each bottle in our high-speed, password-protected internet database. This Bottle Tag is discreetly mounted in the bottom well of the bottle. The Bottle Tag allows each bottle to be traced from the vat in the winery to the cellar of the consumer. This facilitates shipment confirmation and inventory management, and enhances the future value of the consumer’s cellar by verifying Provenance.

  • ANTI-COUNTERFEIT INSURANCE:

ANTI-COUNTERFEIT INSURANCE:Each capsule in the eProvenance System is sealed by an eProvenance Numbered Neck Seal. The number on the Neck Seal is associated with the Bottle Tag number and Case Sensor number. The invisible code on each Neck Seal cannot be reverse engineered, but can be easily verified by the push of a button on the eProvenance Authenticator.

  • EPROVENANCE AUTHENTICATOR:

EPROVENANCE AUTHENTICATOR:The eProvenance Authenticator is a simple yet sophisticated tool that reads the invisible code on the eProvenance Neck Seal. Lightweight, portable, inexpensive yet reliable, this Authenticator will be offered to participating retailers and auction houses

Key benefits for the Retailer:

  • Increase revenue with a new sales tool in your shops. Give your staff easy access to essential information about the wine (growing season, harvest, tasting notes, ratings etc...) to improve their sales pitch.
  • Improve your distribution channel. Track the temperature of your shipments and inform your customers you have assured the proper care and storage of every bottle. Provide customers with certificates verifying Provenance and proper storage temperature.
  • Eliminate pilferage and inventory differences thanks to the traceability of each bottle. Track every bottle registered in your database at any time.
  • Easily, quickly scan inventory with RFID. Scan time is dramatically reduced by Radio Frequency Identification technology.
